Welcome to the homepage of The Bulletin of the Center for Children's Books, one of the nation's leading children's book review journals for school and public librarians.

Shady government ops, scientists, and one powerful secret weapon. It sounds like the making of a movie, but Jonah Winter brings the factual account of the Manhattan Project to young readers in this month's Big Picture, The Secret Project. This picture-book gem presents the historical episode with quasi-folkloric core, reaching multiple audiences at varied levels of prior knowledge and understanding. Adults tasked with shepherding youth of all ages through the darkest episodes of history will appreciate so moving and versatile a guide.

They're here, they're here!! The Bulletin staff is happy to announce the 2016 Blue Ribbon Awards. These are the best of the best, folks, and we put a lot of hard work in determining what exactly that meant this year. If anything, it was a year of surprises, from a s
urvival story/fantasy/horror mashup to an abundance of folklore. Go on, pick out your favorite!

The New Year brings a host of gift giving opportunities and we're here to help!  our latest Guide Book to Gift Books is updated and revised edition to assist you with all your shopping needs--because who gives anything besides books, right? With over three hundred titles, annotated and organized by age group, our choices are sure to please even your most challenging recipient--and there's always the bonus of adding a few books to your own TBR list to use that gift card on.

Curious about how The Bulletin works? The Bulletin of the Center for Children's Books is the only major reviewing periodical for children's literature whose entire reviewing staff meets regularly, reads and discusses everyone else's reviews for the issue.
